Sell to the Market, Not to the Bank
Posted in goodsSell to the Market, Not to the Bank
Many newer players sell all of their goods to the bank. But you are far better off, in the long run, when you sell your goods on the market instead.
How to do it
First, here is HOW to sell your goods on the market: Go to your warehouse, then click on the goods you want to sell. From here you can move your goods to the market.
Now it is just a waiting game. Your goods will sit in the market queue, waiting for another player to buy them. The nice thing about this is that goods aren’t taking up space in your warehouse while waiting to be sold on the market.
What makes it different
- When you sell goods on the market, they will stay on the market until another player buys them. Depending on the the type of goods, this could take anywhere from an hour to several days. You can monitor your goods’ progress through the market queue by checking the My Goods link.
- The bank takes a discount when there is an abundance of the goods you are selling. If you sell your goods on the market instead, you get full price for your goods.
- When you sell goods on the market, a transport assignment is generated to transport the goods from your city to the buyer’s city. This stimulates the transport portion of the game. Players will often voice frustration when they see the goods they purchased came from the bank, because they know that no transport assignments will be generated by that transaction.
- Most importantly, you are eligible for the market bonus when you sell goods on the market, instead of to the bank. The market bonus means you earn 1 CV per unit of goods sold, for eligible goods. The market bonus can be difficult for new players to fully grasp, but it has huge potential to improve your company’s success.
It’s true, there are times when you don’t have much choice but to sell to the bank. When your business is just getting started, you often need the immediate cash that you get from the bank. In general, though, your best course of action is to get out of that habit quickly once you get off to a good start.
